Statement on the Cass report

The final report of Dr Hilary Cass was published today, completing her review of NHS England gender services for young people and offering a range of recommendations for future treatment. The Lesbian Project welcomes the report, and notes several findings with interest, including the significant proportion of trans-identified young females who are same-sex attracted. In her findings, Dr Cass focuses upon reckless physical interventions, massive evidential gaps, and shoddy record-keeping in the treatment of those with gender incongruence in recent times, and makes it clear that a generation of young lesbians, among others, has been radically failed by the medical profession. The Lesbian Project hopes that real change will now be implemented on the ground in health services, in order to fully excise the fanatical activism that has led to the scandalous mistreatment of a vulnerable cohort of children and adolescents.
